Malls run on footfall. Most of it is a guess.

Rents, staffing and marketing follow how many people come in, and when. Many malls still count with a hand clicker at a few doors.

Two cameras, one person.

Parallax is named for what it does. Two cameras see the same walkway from different angles, so each person lands on the mall's floor plan twice. Parallax puts both sightings in metres, and when they land on the same spot at the same moment, it counts one person.

First pilot

Parallax is built, tested and starting in a real mall. Counting, the live dashboard and the owner reports were tested on recorded crowd video, with a written test report for every version. The first pilot runs in one wing of a shopping mall in Qatar, checked against people counting the same doors by hand. Then every entrance of that mall, then other malls in Qatar and the Gulf.
